In April 2016 Manchester eScholar was replaced by the University of Manchester’s new Research Information Management System, Pure. In the autumn the University’s research outputs will be available to search and browse via a new Research Portal. Until then the University’s full publication record can be accessed via a temporary portal and the old eScholar content is available to search and browse via this archive.

General notes:
  • This is one of a series of important studies describing the legal and ethical implications of performing imaging studies in normal volunteers. Normal volunteers are commonly involved in imaging studies and incidental findings, often of significance to the subject's health are commonly found. This paper reviews the current legislative and ethical guidelines associated with the conduct of imaging studies in normal subjects and forms the basis for a subsequent publication reviewing current practice within the UK. This study was sponsored by the research committee of the Royal College of radiologists and formed the basis for a one-day meeting on the management of incidental findings in imaging studies hosted by the Royal College of radiologists and the Wellcome Trust in order to advise key stakeholders including the Department of Health and major funding bodies.
